ICON(Cecil Beaton)

Sir Cecil Walter Hardy Beaton (1904-1980)

Why to be envious of his life….

1. He was the staff photographer for Vogue and Vanity Fair in the 1930′s. He helped revolutionize fashion photography and celebrity portraiture

2.  He also began designing costumes and sets on Broadway. His most noted achievement was his costumes for My Fair Lady because they led him to design the costumes for the film musicals Gigi (1958) and My Fair Lady (1964). He was awarded the Academy Award for best costumes for both of these projects.

3. He is also a winner for four Tony Awards for best costumes for Quadrille (1955), My Fair Lady (1957), Saratoga (1960) and Coco (1970)

4. He was knighted in 1972

Cecil Beaton…a life well lived.
