Halloween 2011

Sorry to be so late with photos.
My camera died on my trip to Yosemite back in September so I have been relying on others to fill the void.

Here is Chris as Popeye and me as Olive Oyl!

I made my top and skirt from scratch.
Skirt was my own design.
The top I made using a vintage pattern I had recently bought off of Etsy from SloCrafty.

This was a mail order pattern. Very easy to use.
I made the shirt out of the high necked top on the bottom (without the collar) and added the 3/4 sleeves from the middle shirt.
I sewed on the white trim but am planning to remove it so I can wear the shirt again!

Chris’s costume was pretty simple to throw together.
We bought the black shirt (super cheap!).
He owned the pants already.
I owned the sailor hat.
He owned the pipe.
I quickly made the kerchief out of some excess fabric from my top.
The ‘Spinach’ was made out of an old can and filled with some wilting lettuce we had in the fridge.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was commissioned to transform my friend into Joan from Mad Men!

She was super pleased with the dress! 🙂
I also did her hair (wish there was a photo of the back!)

Lastly, there was Pinto!
It was his 1st Halloween and I made him a turtle shell.

Costume was made out of felt. Underbelly is elastic.
He was a great sport and wore it almost all day!
(and looked super cute!)
